Sealco fire and smoke seals for timber doors 23rd September 2014 Alan Malcolm Uncategorised 0 Comments Sealco has launched a range of Intumescent Door Fire Seals for up to 60 minutes fire and smoke protection of timber doorsets in accordance with current fire regulations. How Sealco intumescent seals work The 4mm depth seals are fitted into a rebate either on the door leaf or the frame. In the event of a fire the intumescent tape seal expands to many times its original size to seal the gap between the door and frame. This provides an effective barrier against the passage of smoke and hot gases from one area to another. Sealco intumescent fireseals are available with an optional cold smoke seal in the form of a grey nylon pile brush, an important feature as smoke fumes can travel faster than the fire itself. The graphite-based intumescent fire seal is contained within a neat and durable PVC sleeve. This has a self-adhesive backing so it is quickly and easily fitted into the rebate to speed up manufacturing. Sealco also supplies a range of weatherbars to seal the bottom of the door. Sealco intumescent seals are Certifire approved The intumescent seals are tested to BS 476 part 22 and 31.1 for either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Smoke seals are tested to EN1634-3. All seals are performance tested to 100,000 open and closed cycles. For full details download our product specification sheet Sealco offers two intumescent seal types to suit a wide range of door styles: Fire only and Fire & Smoke, both are available in white or brown.
