Tips For Choosing Front Door Handles 31st July 2018 Craig Bishop Uncategorised 0 Comments Door handles are often overlooked when it comes to choosing doors, and it’s such a shame as they are part and parcel of the same thing and are such a vital accessory and finishing touch to your door. Their visual appeal can really add that all important sign off to your doors that can help bring out either the style, colour scheme or theme you’re trying to pull off in the room. Door handles have been around a long time With this in mind we’ve come up with some tips for choosing your door handles so you can choose the right door handles. Door locks have been around since the 19th century and as well as giving security to a room or an entire house with both internal and external doors, door handles have opened up numerous possibilities for stylish entrances and is a far cry from leather straps for opening and shutting doors back in the day. Practicality, functionality and style Yes, door handles are practical for how else are you to open a room? And yes, you must consider practicality when you’re choosing handles for your doors as you’ll be using them multiple times a day. You can go with something plain and unremarkable if you just want practicality and you want your doors to do most of the talking, or you can have something more decorative. Matching style and materials to your door handles Matching your doors to your handle can be a bit hit and miss. If you have something more classic and traditional then door handles to match are a good bet. Stick with something that will match the materials your doors are made too; surprisingly stainless-steel handles can go with a timber door if it’s a more modern design. Another possibility is a square handle with either nickel or brass additions that can add that extra bit of modernity to a timbre door. For aluminium or fibreglass doors again, stainless-steel is a great choice and so is a square lever or glass handle, that keeps the whole look fresh and modern. Front doors The front door is one of the first things people see when they enter your home, it is the dividing line between the public and the private, as well as providing security and privacy to you and your family. Again, the door handles are a great finishing touch that will compliment your home and of course, the doors. For more modern doors you can have something long and minimalist in chrome, stainless-steel or brass nickel, older doors can have the traditional door handles that you press down to open, again in nickel or stainless-steel. You could go for something bow shaped or square. You can always go for more adventurous designs when choosing door handles as long as it doesn’t look out of place with your door or the style or theme you’ve chosen for your home.
