Trading Standards start to check CE Marks 20th September 2014 Alan Malcolm Uncategorised 0 Comments It is well over a year since the CE Marking law came into effect for construction products on 1 July 2013. Although many local authorities and developers now ask for CE marked products there has been no known prosecutions of companies falling foul of the law. But if this has led some to become complacent the latest news of Trading Standards officers checking on joinery companies making windows and doors should make them sit up. Earlier this year Sealco held its CE Marking for Timber seminar for joinery manufacturers of windows and doors. We had a great response with over 30 customers from the timber industry and local councils attending the event from all over Scotland and North England. Advice and a presentation from experts and Notified Body for CE Marking Build Check explained what companies had to do to comply with the CE Marking legislation. We held the event in response to confusion around the topic and what needed to be done to comply with CE Marking law. Many customers thought it would be expensive and time consuming to CE Mark. But in reality it can be as little as a morning’s work and little cost to keep inside the law. All companies at the event received a free CE Marking Pack with everything they needed to CE Mark their windows and doors.
